Hi! I'm Heather Watt.

Your new favorite homeschool blogger.

I'm a mother of four and homeschool mom here to help you learn practical ways to instill a heart for learning in your children, a peaceful home, and a love for reading!

Beyond that, I am a Confessional Lutheran who writes from a Christian worldview. You can expect every piece of content and book recommendation to come from a heart that respects faith and family.

Five favorite facts.

I love my family.

I'm "scrunchy."

I am a wannabe homesteader.

Historical Fiction is my favorite.

I believe in you!

I am cheerfully married to Brian (Motivated & Adventurous. Jack-of-all-trades.) We have four incredible children together. In order: Clara (Nurturing & Benevolent. Loves to help.), Laurel (Cute & Quirky. Brings laughter to all.), Callan (Loving & Mischievous. Cars are life.), and Levi (Joyful & Snuggly. Does not like to sleep through the night.)

I am semi-crunchy (scrunchy). I bake my own bread, but still buy eggs from the store. I removed harmful ingredients from my home, but still enjoy sneaking a Dr. Pepper from time to time. We'll just say I'm doing my best.

I dream of homesteading. If I someday have the time, I'd love to add some chickens and some livestock to our beautiful ten acres. Our garden game is strong. This past year we made our own popcorn, and now for the first time we are attempting to grow our own wheat for flour.

My favorite genre to read is Historical Fiction, and my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. "I am the happiest creature in the world. Perhaps other people have said so before, but not one with such justice. I am happier even than Jane; she only smiles, I laugh."

I am deeply passionate about homeschooling and encouraging families who are considering this path! I feel as if homeschooling was written into my DNA,  something I never anticipated. Surprise! I went to public school and didn't plan to homeschool until I fell into it with encouragement from other families. (Hint: I loved their kids!) Now I can't get enough, and want to be that source of encouragement for others.

How did I become The Kid Lit Lady?
